Things people ask

What does it mean to adopt a colour?
Every colour on screen is identified by a hex code like #3A7BF2, but most of those 16.7 million codes have no human name. When you adopt one, you give it a name that becomes permanently linked to that exact shade. It's yours.
Can I name a colour after someone?
Absolutely. Many people name a colour after a loved one, a pet, a place that matters to them, or an inside joke. It makes a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or just because.
How many colours are there to choose from?
Screens display 16,777,216 distinct colours (the full RGB spectrum). The vast majority have never been named. You can explore them all with our colour finder and land on the exact shade that speaks to you.
Is the name permanent?
Yes. Once a colour is adopted and named, that name is stored permanently. It won't expire, and no one else can rename that exact shade.
What do I get for $1?
You get to name a colour that has never been named before. Your chosen name is permanently recorded, and the colour's page on colour.love displays your name for the world to see.
Can two people name the same colour?
No. Each of the 16,777,216 hex codes can only be named once. Once it's taken, it's taken, which is what makes each adoption unique.
